I continue with this beautiful sketch of the progressive formation of the alpine nappes as Émile Argand understood it in 1916. Of course, our views have changed on many aspects, for example on the timing. However, this is perhaps the first detailed kinematic reconstruction of an orogen, integrating time evolution and the progressive accumulation of deformation and of relief building.
